Summer is drawing to a close so it seems like a good time to offer our thanks to all of you who have been surfing with us this year.
It’s been a bit of a wild ride this year. The early part of the season was super cold then the heat wave killed off all the surf in June but from then on it was one of the best summers that I can remember. We have had very little rain, most days have been sunny and the surf, while never thumping through, has been consistent and ideal for teaching surfing.
It was a bit like one of those summers you remembered as a kid but that never seem to happen anymore. I always put that down to age and rose tinted spectacles but now I know they do still happen!
For us at the surf school we begin the slow journey into autumn and winter. Most surfers will tell you that this is their favourite time of year as the Atlantic gets stormier and Cornwall gets some good quality swells while still getting some sunshine and warm sea temperatures. I’m really looking forward to surfing all the waves that don’t get any swell during the summer months but will be coming alive in the next weeks and months.
Anyway, thanks again for surfing with us this year. We’ve really enjoyed it and have made some great friends. And if you’re coming down for a surfing lessons in September and October then you will find out why every Cornish surfer loves autumn.
