We have offered SUP hire for a number of years but now we are pleased to say that we will be offering SUP lessons through the surf academy this summer. The sport is super popular in flat water and on the South coast but we reckon that Gwithian is a perfect venue for trying SUP on the North coast. Gwithian’s slow moving waves are ideal for giving SUP a go and if the surf is too big here it’s easy to move down St Ives Bay to the more sheltered beaches at Hayle.
SUP is one of the fastest growing sports in the world that has more than doubled in popularity each year since it began to take off in 2005. It’s easy to see why. SUP is a traditional Hawaiian way of surfing where you are constantly standing while using a long paddle to propel yourself either in flat water or onto breaking waves. It’s a fantastic way to stay fit and is the most accessible form of surfing there is. Even if the sea is flat then you can still get out on one of our SUP boards and Cornwall is one of the best locations to give it a try. You can SUP in the sea, rivers, estuaries and even the Tamar – literally anywhere there is water more than six inches deep.
If you fancy getting in the water on a SUP board this summer then give us a bell on 01736 757579 or book online.
