The surf has taken a bit of a turn for the worse since we began 2013. There has been plenty on swell but not a lot of quality.
You may have read that 100 ft high waves have been ridden in Portugal. Mainland Europe has had an epic winter of surf so although we are missing out at least someone is getting plenty of surf. As well as great surf they are also enjoying some good snow in the Alps so it seemed like a good year to dust off the snowboards and hit the piste.
Samoens was our destination this year and I have to say that it was the best snow I’ve ever seen (not that that is saying much) with fresh powder greeting us every morning for a week. I need a week to get over it!
Now that February has well and truly begun it’s time to think about the surf school and get everything up and running in time for the season. This summers stock should be arriving over the next month or so and while Gwithian and St Ives Bay are super quiet at the moment it won’t be long before Easter is here and the beaches are packed again.
Just enough time to give the surf school a lick of paint and enjoy the last peaceful month of the year!
