Not long till summer officially starts at Cornwall’s favourite surf school but the weather is not so summery at the moment! I got a train journey down from London yesterday – I was up seeing a mate who used to work at the surf school about a decade ago – and there was a blizzard at Newbury.
This is clearly not on.
Luckily the snow didn’t extend into the Westcountry and by the time the train pulled into Camborne the sun was out again. The weather was pretty schizophrenic on that 5 hour journey but it looks like we are coming into some more settled weather now.
The winds have dropped right off and the surf is almost pleasant now so I reckon I could be getting a few surfs in this week before the mayhem of the summer season kicks off.
I’m not sure where todays surf is going to take me, maybe Praa Sands (pictured) – probably just a quick surf at Gwithian though; the old faithful.
There’s no place like home.
