I know, it’s absurd to be talking about next winter when this one is far from over but the Gul rep came in this morning with some mighty fine looking wetsuits for next winters range.
The one that really caught my eye was the Gul Junior ABS wetsuit. The suit is fully glued and blindstitched so it has totally waterproof seams, extra stretchy neoprene and a shoulder entry system. This is a really decent bit of kit but the thing that surprised me the most was the price. £85. Eighty five quid!
When I was of an age where I could have fitted into a junior wetsuit Spandau Ballet were still in the charts. And do you know how much a junior wetsuit with no extra stretchy neoprene, lousy seams, back entry and knee pads guaranteed to be destroyed with in 20 surfs was? At least £100.
So in 20 (ahem, actually 25 years) suits have got a hundred times better…and cheaper!
These suits will be hitting the shelves in September 2013. I wish I could fit in one!
