It’s a question that gets asked a lot during the summer. While we do work very hard during the summer the surroundings and work environment are an excellent compensation – not many people can say they work at the beach. Or go barefoot to work for that matter.
So what do we do in the winter? Most of our surf coaches use surf coaching to fund their winter travels. As good as Cornwall can be in the winter – and winter is the time when we get some of our best surf – it does get cold and even when the surf is pumping the thought of putting on a wetsuit that you left to dry in the rain or festering in a bucket in the back of the van is enough to make you run to the travel agents.
This winter Poppy is in Australia doing some coaching on the Gold Coast, Freddie is in Bali surfing in 29° water and Callum has gone to Nicaragua taking photos at Thunderbomb Surf Camp. Even I managed to snag a quick trip away to an Indonesian island with ridiculously good surf.
If you think you might like to spend the summer at the beach and your winter…uh….. on another beach then you might want to consider becoming a surf coach.
We have lots of ASI Level 1 Surf Coach courses coming up over the next year starting in March so where will you spend your winter?
